Test Analyst

 

 

The Role

The Test Analyst delivers critical quality control via the testing of application code as part of the company’s software lifecycle.  They have built and maintain two major SaaS products for national and international airport customers. With a steady flow of development activity on bugs, change requests and new features the test department must constantly devise and carry out new testing as well as continually regression test to ensure platform stability.  The test team makes use of low code and coded automation wherever possible using a combination of scripts and third-party test tools. The Test Analyst will be expected to identify and create low code and coded automated tests, build an expert understanding of application functionality and logic, as well as be able to identify new test criteria from specifications of new functionality. Manual testing is also required as part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works alongside other team members, carrying out all types of testing activities as required during the software release cycle.
  • Builds and maintains a deep understanding of all IDG products from a user perspective but with technical insight.
  • Undertake test execution and ensure that all errors are identified and corrected.
  • Creates, executes and maintains a low code and coded automated test suite for product testing purposes.
  • Carries out security tests throughout the testing process, using relevant tools to identify vulnerabilities in the platform(s).
  • Design and document test cases and reports.
  • Is analytical with a structured approach to diagnosis and problem solving.
  • Identify defects, record them, and ensure that they are actioned.
  • Ensure a good level of teamwork, by highlighting problems and issues in good time, proactively suggesting solutions to resolve problems.
  • Takes ownership for completing tasks that may rely on the contribution of other team members.
  • Ability to directly reject incorrect work.
  • Able to estimate work.
  • Organises work effectively and meets deadlines. Makes decisions to prioritise work.

Skill Level 

  • Working knowledge of the concepts of testing processes and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of the concepts of the Software Test Life Cycle.
  • Proven ability to structure the testing process.
  • Knowledge of the companies products in depth.
  • Knowledge of, or demonstrable interest in security testing tools such as: OWASP ZAP, Port Swigger Burp
  • Knowledge of, or demonstrable interest in low code automated test tools and/or coded automation tooling with languages such as: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python
  • Experienced at communicating with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to organise and judge own work to achieve deadlines.
  • Works accurately and demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Good standard of written communication.

 

Requirements

  • Analytical logical thinker.
  • Strong work ethic organised and focused.
  • Good communications skills, written and verbal.
  • Some experience working as a software tester with knowledge of ‘Low Code’ automation tools such as Ghost Inspector, or general demonstrable interest in automation tooling (ideally within a related industry).
  • Acts in support of company values, applying company policies and practises as required.
  • Holds ISTQB qualification.
