The Role
A Software Engineer is an essential role within the Support and Change team, focused on maintaining the integrity and reliability of software applications. This role plays a crucial part in addressing and solving technical issues that arise, ensuring that customers receive prompt and effective solutions to their problems.
Responsibilities
- Supporting and maintaining existing systems within the Support and Change department
- Collaborating on Change projects and contributing to the delivery of high-quality bespoke software solutions
- Assisting in understanding and refining requirements with the client and the engineering team
- Supporting the smooth transition of new projects into the Support and Change department by working with the project team
- Using the support helpdesk to identify issues or change requests, updating ticket statuses, and communicating updates to clients
- Investigating support tickets with guidance, including identifying whether the issue is related to data, infrastructure, bugs, or change requests
Skills and Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a Software Developer role
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify the root cause of technical issues and follow appropriate steps to resolve them
- Foundational knowledge of computer software and the ability to follow technical instructions
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
- Good organisational skills to manage tasks and meet deadlines
- Good debugging and profiling skills, particularly in database-centric systems
