Reporting to the Network Architect, the Regional Engineer will have a strong technical background and be a confident self-starter able to work remotely across varying Company locations. Working with a selection of managed service suppliers and the Network Architect you will need to identify, understand, engineer, and assist implementation of network services and end user devices to the business.
You will have a proven end user device background and be comfortable in troubleshooting and assisting with documenting and remediating their network services at their clients’ regional locations. You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery and support of any and all branch IT related support.
The successful role holder will be passionate about how network services underpin the company and will strive to challenge and deliver a class leading service. You will be a strong advocate of documented process and procedure.
Key responsibilities within the role will be to work closely with their clients’ service management, network architecture, and infrastructure teams to ensure all new change activities are implemented into live service as seamlessly as possible.
You will be accountable for adherence to the current IT SLAs, KPIs, department performance measures and processes as well as the delivery of the operational responsibilities of a network engineer.
Overall Role Objectives
- Arrange site visits (estimated at 4 days per week) to Company locations analysing current state (Wi-Fi, network performance and general site IT issues) and documenting site maps and IT assets for future use.
- Report and follow through plans to remediate issues for each site which may include one or more re-visits.
- Spend 1 day per week office based keeping up to date with documentation and ticket resolution.
- Work with Network Architect to resolve any high priority, wide-ranging or recurring issues and managing the problem to a successful conclusion.
- Manage a small stock to fulfil your duties recording any item used on a site on the appropriate ticket
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Technical Content of Work/Skills Required
- Managing and maintaining Cisco Meraki network equipment, i.e. switches, access points, firewalls etc
- Ability to swap out network hardware and implement in line with recommendations from the Network Architect.
- Ability to troubleshoot and support network related issues.
- Ability to produce well-structured and written documentation and communicate to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of deploying images to desktops/laptops remotely.
- Knowledge of managing mobiles/tablets via mobile device management software.
- Networking (WAN / LAN / DNS) and wireless systems understanding.
