Background

Our clients are going through a period of significant change. In June 2024 we will embark on a company-wide Digital Transformation (“DX”) Programme, which will result in a complete change to our technology stack with the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365. The Companies IT and Portfolio Delivery teams will be at the centre of this DX programme and so now is a unique and exciting time to join our business and play a key role in the successful delivery of our programme objectives. Role Overview

  • Reporting into the Head of Portfolio Delivery, you will work alongside IT and business colleagues to help shape and deliver an exciting transformation programme. You will be responsible for the delivery of a one or more projects/ workstreams of varying size and complexity in line with the defined project governance standards – using a hybrid of both Agile / Waterfall Prince 2 methodologies.
  • This will involve managing work through internal and external teams, engaging with and managing project stakeholders, creating and owning a full project plan, reporting progress against key project milestones, controlling the project finances and managing changes, actions, dependencies, issues and risks.
  • As part of the Portfolio Delivery Team, the Project Manager will be involved in agreeing the business prioritisation and delivery timelines with the key business stakeholders and reporting progress via the project Steering Committee and project sponsors.

 

Overall Role Objectives

  • Build and maintain great relationships with key business stakeholders, defining project deliverables in line with business objectives.
  • Collaboratively create and own project milestone and detailed delivery plans, including key business tasks where appropriate.
  • Maintain strict project cost / budget controls.
  • Work with Portfolio Delivery Team colleagues, business division owners, contractors and consultants to deliver your projects.
  • Agree Statements of Work and commercial terms with third parties and then work collaboratively with them to achieve the project objectives.
  • Maintain control of your projects using standard PRINCE2-based practices – change control, issue and risk management, actions and dependency tracking.
  • Adhere to project governance standards, including weekly and monthly project reporting.

Tasks/Responsibilities

Operational

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables.
  • Define project plan and communication requirements.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to all stakeholders.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders throughout the project (internal and external).
  • Where necessary negotiate with other departments for the acquisition of required personnel from the company.
  • Delegate responsibility to the appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Help define test and release plans.
  • Prepare the test environment and coordinate with suppliers to resolve any issues.
  • Manage the seamless change into the live environment.
  • Conduct lessons learned reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Liaise with 3rd party providers, where necessary, over operational issues.
  • Assist with other IT support responsibilities where necessary.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills.
  • Experience creating detailed updates and reports, running workshops and giving presentations.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps and Microsoft Dynamics 365 is desirable but not essential.

 

Experience/Knowledge

  • Project Manager Experience.
  • Awareness of change management methodologies e.g. Prosci®.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
