Responsibilities
- Lead and drive state-of-the-art infrastructure solutions for over 30,000 users and 200 industrial and office sites worldwide.
- Design effective IT disaster recovery and backup strategies, ensuring robust protection against data loss and timely recovery during disasters.
- Contribute to accelerating hybrid cloud adoption by defining and supporting the target state for data protection and recovery solutions.
- Serve as the technical lead for backup and restore topics, supporting strategy decisions, addressing local/global demands, driving rollouts, and participating in technical discussions with vendors/providers.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal teams for solution designs, project implementations, integrations, and continuous improvement, including advanced troubleshooting.
- Shape target backup solutions aligned with global hybrid cloud architecture, standards, industry best practices, and guiding principles.
- Develop and maintain Backup and Restore architecture artifacts.
- Lead evaluations of technology products and provide insights for decision-making on technology purchases.
- Communicate with management to support decisions regarding next-generation services within your domain.
Requirements
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining IT Backup and Restore strategies and architecture in a large international enterprise, either as an in-house consultant or external advisor.
- Familiarity with backup and restore technologies across platforms/infrastructure, such as VMware, SQL, Azure, SaaS, SAP, etc.
- Strong track record in designing modern infrastructure solutions and hybrid cloud architectures for large global enterprises (experience in an industrial setting is a plus).
- Deep understanding of large-scale, high-availability multi-cloud environments and associated infrastructure services, including backup, restore, and archiving.
- Proficiency in technologies such as Azure, Rubrik, and Dell, supported by relevant certifications.
- Degree in Computer Science or a comparable field.
- Recognized as a proactive team player with a balanced “can-do” and “early adopter” mentality.
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills across IT and business domains.
- Fluency in English is required; German is a strong advantage.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to Knauf sites across all continents.
