Solutions Architect

 

A solution architect is a professional who solves complex problems by designing or modifying technology architecture and testing the integration of software in these designs for correct functionality.

 

Job Description

  • Creating and leading the process of integrating IT systems for it to meet the requirements of an organisation
  • Conducting system architecture evaluation and collaborating with project management and IT development team to improve the architecture
  • Evaluating project constrains to find alternatives, alleviate risks, and perform re-engineering if required
  • Providing supervision and guidance to development teams
  • Continually researching the current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed
  • Informing various stakeholders about any issues with the current technical solutions being implemented
  • Assessing the business impact that certain technical choices have
  • Providing updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs and budgets

 

To be a successful solution architect, you need to have

  • Proven work experience as a solution architect or similar role
  • Previous project management experience is advantageous
  • In-depth understanding of coding languages
  • Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases
  • Efficient communication skills
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science is preferred
