Role Overview

  • As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the on-premise and cloud infrastructure used to deliver IT services to customers.
  • Your primary focus will be on ensuring high-quality operational and technical support, including incident resolution, service monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement projects.
  • You will interact with both internal stakeholders and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, contribute to release planning, and provide input on environment administration.
  • Your responsibilities will also include creating detailed technical documentation, designing performance metrics, and facilitating service transitions for new customers.
  • Extensive experience in WMWare, Windows Server, and Microsoft Azure and relevant certifications are essential, along with operational expertise in supporting these technologies at an enterprise level.
  • You will need strong scripting skills, a positive attitude, and a deep commitment to ongoing learning and improvement.

  • Operational Excellence: Ensure the smooth operation of IT infrastructure resolving support requests promptly and effectively to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure timely resolution and minimize service disruptions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create detailed technical documentation and design metrics for reporting on key performance and quality indicators, facilitating trend analysis and performance optimization.
  • Technical Expertise: Leverage expertise in VMWare, Windows Server, and Microsoft Azure and relevant technologies to support and maintain IT infrastructure, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.

Skills

  • Multiple years’ experience within a 3rd line role supporting Windows Server and VMWare estates.
  • Knowledge of server installation, hardware upgrades, and firmware updates.
  • Proficiency in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting HP server hardware.
  • Proficiency in managing a Windows server estate, including legacy operating systems (e.g., Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019).
  • Experience with SAN storage systems, including setup, configuration, and management.
  • Understanding of storage protocols (e.g., iSCSI, Fibre Channel) and best practices for data storage and retrieval.
  • Active Directory administration, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience migrating server workloads from on-premises to Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere components and concepts, including
  • Clusters and ESXi.
  • Site Recovery Manager (SRM) for disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • High Availability (HA) setups in VMware environments.
  • Proficient in patching software and Hardware using Microsoft or other solutions.

  • Implementing Intune, Meraki and Manage engine policies, features, and capabilities.

  • Awareness of Dynamics 365 as a product. Familiarity with Dynamics 365 modules (e.g., Sales, Customer Service, Finance, Supply Chain) and how they are used in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Resource Manager, virtual machines, networking, and Entra.
  • Knowledge of Azure configuration management tools such as Azure Configuration Manager and Intune.
  • 365 Admin and management

  • Maintenance and Upgrades: Ensuring all systems are up to date with the latest software and hardware upgrades.
  • Network Management: Overseeing the performance and security of network systems.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Providing technical support and troubleshooting for any infrastructure-related issues.
  • Security: Implementing and managing security measures to protect data and systems from cyber threats.
  • Disaster Recovery: Creating and maintaining disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss in case of emergencies.
  • Monitoring: Continuously monitoring system performance to detect and resolve issues proactively.
  • Documentation: Keeping detailed documentation for system configurations, changes, and operational procedures.
  • Collaboration: Working with other IT professionals to ensure that infrastructure projects meet technical requirements and are delivered on time.
  • Research and Development: Staying informed about new technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements to the existing infrastructure.
